Rollo Markee and The Tailshakers - Friday 24th May

Fronted by the inimitable Rollo Markee on harmonica and vocals and with the stinging licks and west coast rhythms of Steve Fossey on blues guitar, the band play an authentic blend of Chicago blues and west coast swing... A red-hot band that’s bound to get you moving and grooving!  Rollo Started playing Blues at the age of seventeen having been inspired by his mentor Julius Junior. Twenty years on he has developed a rich, passionate and authentic blues voice. His valve amplified Harp playing is full of tone, style and energy. Working as a musician an actor and a dancer has made Rollo the consummate frontman, engaging with and enthusing audiences across Europe.  The Tailshakers formed in 1998 with a vision to create a Blues band with an authentic 50's sound. They use vintage instruments, microphones and amplifiers to create a sound reminiscent of the Chess Recordings. Their dedication to blues and their attention to detail have produced a confident, stylish and highly entertaining act. The Tailshakers’ show contains original material that takes in Chicago blues, boogaloo, Latin and swing, as well as some of the choicest blues players from the era: Rosco Gordon, J.B. Hutto, Junior Wells and T-Bone Walker...

The Good Old Boys - Saturday 25th May

The Good Old Boys were originally formed as a vehicle to play live Rock 'n' Roll whenever the members were free from touring with their own bands. The astounding response they received has led them to become a successful band in their own right and as a result the combined talents of Alan Barratt, Nick Simper, Peter Parks, Simon Bishop and Richard Hudson provide a perfect blend for the 50s 60s Rock 'n' Roll / R&B enthusiast.  Alan Barratt (lead singer) started his professional career singing with Jo-Jo Gun. He has worked alongside the likes of Chip Hawkes (Tremolos), Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers and The Carlo Little Band (Stones). His unique, understated, relaxed vocal style has led to his continued success and popularity, making him one of the most sought after names in Rock 'n' Roll today.  Nick Simper (bass and vocals) needs no introduction. His name is synonymous with one of the greatest rock bands ever, Deep Purple, of which he was a founder member. He first played professionally with Johnny Kidd and The Pirates and his vintage bass playing is the bedrock for The Good Old Boys.  Peter Parks (guitar and vocals) played alongside Nick Simper in the Deep Purple offshoot band, Warhorse. He subsequently went on to record albums with the much-acclaimed Fandango and has performed with B.B.King, Paul McCartney and Simple Minds. His fine rock and blues guitar playing is a huge asset to the band.  Simon Bishop (guitar and vocals) was originally a session guitarist for the BBC. He has toured with Renaissance, High Society, and The Monks and has recently returned from session work in Nashville where his unique country rock guitar style places him in great demand. The unusual combination of the two contrasting guitarists adds significantly to the brilliance of the band.  Richard Hudson (drums and vocals) needs no introduction to Strawbs fans. Hud is never happier than when playing, and he keeps his hand in by playing with a range of bands, when not busy with his current project High Society.

An evening with the Good Old Boys is an exhilarating experience and one not to be missed. The coming together of five great musicians on one stage cannot fail to excite, and excitement, after all, is what Rock 'n' Roll is about.

Rat Pack - Saturday 1st June

Rat Pack were formed in May 2000 and we were on the road by June 1st. After a few changes along the way, our line up is Mick - vocalist/bass player & harmonica, Steve - drums/some vocals, & Age - our guitarist, who also does vocals. Mick & Age occasionally have a funny 5 minutes & swap the guitar & bass between them, in the middle of a song. We are a hard working, dedicated, fully committed & reliable 'KICK ASS' rock 'n' roll / rockabilly trio with the strength to bring the house down, & the versatility to host jammin' sessions, & back known artists such as Rip Masters & Linda Gail Lewis. We have all been gigging since about 900 BC :) when we were teens. We gig all over the UK rockin' the roofs off the clubs, pubs & weekender venues, (topping the bill at some) & we generally love to create a PARTY! atmosphere, and rock it up from start to finish of our sets. Check out our gig tonight & watch the roof being rocked off The Golden Lion
